Other decorative effects

1/ Toning of the liquid wallpaper

The liquid wallpaper can be colored according to your tastes. It is very important to accurately determine the amount of coloring needed and make sure you keep to that amount for any future batches of liquid wallpaper. The coloring is added to lukewarm water. The mixture is poured on the dry material (the previously mixed together liquid wallpaper, glue and additives).

You can also paint over the liquid wallpaper with latex after it has dried on the surface. Using a roller without applying pressure and colored latex you can spice up the room and still maintain the excellent thermoisolationary and other effects of the liquid wallpaper.

2/ Sponge effects (coral or foam)

You can achieve curious results with an ordinary household sponge and liquid wallpaper.

In several containers (latex bucket covers, for example) prepare the basic nuances of liquid wallpaper – for instance, yellow and beige.

Drench the sponge in water beforehand and then dip in the latex color of your liking. Have a separate sponge for every latex color you want to apply. You can test the effects on a piece of paper before you apply it to your wall.

After the liquid wallpaper has dried on the surface, apply your desired colors using the sponge. You can be chaotic or methodical – let your imagination run wild!

The sponge creates depth and complexity to the plastering. Varying the pressure on the sponge can produce different results, just to give you a simple idea.

3/ Decorate your columns, arcs and walls in unique ways

This way of applying the liquid wallpaper is suitable for achieving intriguing decorative effects on parts of the room you want to accentuate, e.g. columns, arcs and particular walls.

Choose the basic colors. Prepare two or three types of liquid wallpaper (in the first photo, we chose white and TT 72, in the second one, we chose white, TT 07 and TT 67) in different containers.

Use your hands for application – place a meatball of the white material on the wall and spread using the mortarboard to the required thickness. Place the next type next to it (TT 72) and spread it again. In the end, every wall sector with different coloring must blend together with the rest and have the same thickness. If you make a mistake and put some the white in the TT 72 sector, do not worry, it only makes the wall more interesting! You can also add some of the various additives that are available for the liquid wallpaper.

This type of decoration is suitable for dull entr?e or lackluster balconies and terraces. It is very useful for places in the home with a lot of traffic, such as the entr?e, since any damage is easily repairable.

Here are some other neat ideas:

Instead of using two separate colors, you can use similar colors with small differences in the hues. Alternatively, you can cover 3 of the walls in one color and the fourth could be a combination of all the colors.

If you have covered several of the rooms in your home with liquid wallpaper, use the remains on some corridor, pantry or balcony. Alternatively, you can dry the remains out on the bottom of the mixing container and then put it in a plastic bag to save it in case of any damage on the surface.

4/ Using prints to decorate

If you have decorative figurines, you can imprint them on the wall, before the liquid wallpaper has solidified. If you are using a shellfish, you can dip it in different colors of latex before imprinting it to make the design stand out. If you get bored with the design, you can wet the wall and smooth the imprints out. Later, you can even decorate using the sponge, as described above.

5/ Decoration with a relief roller or fingers

After applying the liquid wallpaper to the wall, wait a while so that part of the water evaporates and then use relief roller to apply decorative effects.

A rough plastering surface is easily achievable with liquid wallpaper. Just use your fingers instead of the mortarboard! Leave fingerprints on the still wet surface for interesting decorative effects. Also, the time it takes to apply the liquid wallpaper is cut in half. The technique is very useful for unplastered and uneven walls. If the relief is too deep, smooth the surface out using a rubber roller.

6/ Decoration with dried plants or decorative elements
